“You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.” Lee Iacocca
Model United Nations has been a critical part of my life since the very beginning. Starting off as merely an administrative staff member, MUN, in my 3 year journey so far, has led me to becoming a chair, and now to applying for higher postions. Entering the conference halls at just the age of 11, this institution has helped me grow and shaped me as a person. So far, it’s been a great run, filled with cherished experiences.
What has MUN taught me? In hindsight, I don’t think I would have been able to gain my best abilities without it. I have learnt that practice and persistence makes public speaking a piece of cake and accomplishable by anyone. Furthermore, I have learnt that every issue is resolvable on a multitude of levels and these attributes will make me a holistic person today and in the future.
The latest conference I have taken part in I served as the Chair of General Assembly 3 at DIAMUN 2014 . Receiving this spectacular opportunity to be the Deputy Secretary General of the Middle East motivates me further to flourish my betterment in MUN. Ever since I joined O-MUN, it has been a real joy ride for me. It is a platform that has given me great opportunities to meet new people from all around the world and transform into the best delegate I can be.
I would like to finish off with the following quote and hope to see everyone experience the greatness of the Model United Nations. “Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought.” -Albert von Szent-Gyorgy.
