Hi, my name is Ashley. After being born and raised on Vancouver Island I made the choice to move out to Alberta with hopes of expanding my horizons through new experiences with new faces. Nine years and two University degrees later, I feel I have accomplished this goal and grown leaps and bounds both professionally and as a person.
Being laid off last June from my positions in Quality Assurance and Health and Safety within the Oil & Gas industry was a difficult hurdle for me to encounter; however I can proudly say I have learnt more about myself in the last nine months than I could have ever imagined. I dove into solo travel and found the confidence to make friends and acquaintances every step of the way. I reconnected and strengthened relationships with family - something that was previously constrained heavily by availability and timing. I challenged educational courses that both peaked my personal interests and helped shape my understanding of areas I hope to encompass in my next career. I began volunteering with rehabilitative patients with the goal of making even the smallest positive difference in each of their days. I have learnt that although educational or professional plans sometimes do not move forward as expected, life still goes on and everything happens for a reason.
Looking back, I do not regret any decisions I have made or experiences I have gained.
Looking forward, I believe a change is on the horizon. I am looking to find my roots once again on Vancouver Island and move into a career in the healthcare industry that I will not only find positively challenging but will also be passionate towards. I am a motivated individual looking for the right opportunity to start the next chapter in my life.
