They say the pen is mightier than the sword. This is an expression I live by as a first year student at the Ryerson School of Journalism.
Commuting from downtown Toronto, I spent four years as a Dance Major at Etobicoke School of the Arts, and realized that expression through movement was not my life's purpose. Instead, I became the Editor in Chief of our school newspaper, The ESA Eagle Eye. In that role I began writing and thinking critically, and seeing the microcosmic world inside my high school through the eyes of a journalist.
On the morning of April 7th, 2013, I was offered a place in the Ryerson Journalism program. After my screams of excitement had awakened my entire family, I quickly accepted my offer and began my job as a journalist-in-training. Inspired by the chaos and diversity of the city, I hope to be able to reach out and hear stories told by the voices that keep the city alive, and to use the mighty power of the pen to amplify and celebrate them.
