Ashley Medford

Ashley Medford is a 3D, immersive training and collaboration technology consultant and evangelist, specializing in Virtual Worlds (VW) & Serious Game for primarily Government and Military clients. A Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida, Ashley also earned a Certificate in Virtual Worlds during a 1 year program from the University of Washington. Ashley remains active in academia, industry, and government VW communities of practice and events. She currently serves on the 2012 Defense GameTech User’s Conference planning committee and Virtual World subcommittee. She is also a member of the Association of Virtual Worlds (AVW), the Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds (FCVW), the University of Washington VWs Certification Program Avalumni Group, and the IEEE Standards Association’s vPEARL (Virtual: Play, Exchange, Advise, Renew, Learn) community and Virtual Environments Cooperative Laboratory (VE CoLab). Ashley regularly contributed to the immersive technology communities, speaking and delivering various presentations at major conferences and events. Ashley ahas over 3 years prior, professional experience as an Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading management and technology consulting firm. Ashley first began working with VWs in support of NAVAIR Special Communications Requirements Division (SCR) in order to establish a value-added 3D VW Network capability and service offering (an RDT&E; effort). As a result of that innovative project, her client and team were selected as 2011 ComputerWorld Honors Program Laureate honorees among nominees worldwide. Current project efforts are focused on leveraging VWs to enhance productivity and reduce costs associated with C4I system engineering design reviews, technical troubleshooting or assistance, and toward use of VWs for remote system control. In partnership with NAVAIR Future Workforce Technologies and Strategies, Miss Medford and SCR continued working towards establishing a core of organic VW expertise within the NAVAIR organization for continued acceptance and use of VWs within the Services. Currently a Consultant at ATIS Consulting, INC., Ashley provides consultation and advisement to clients from various communities (e.g., IEEE-Standards Association) on concept development and creative ideation, leveraging virtual environments and sporting the development of technology standards in order to solve real-world problems and advance the field.
