Ashley Wood

Ashley Wood is an associate editor at Foreign Affairs magazine with experience in policy, research, and communications, including at the White House and the State Department.
Ashley was most recently a Special Advisor at the U.S. Department of State Office of China Coordination, where she served on the political unit and as the communications unit chief. She received several Superior and Meritorious Honor awards for her work to reduce the flow of fentanyl and support high-level diplomacy.
From 2021-2023, Ashley served as a policy advisor on the National Security Council staff. She worked on the National Security Strategy, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and democracy issues.
Prior to joining the government, Ashley held communications and research roles at the Biden-Harris Transition, National Security Action, and Edelman. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and originally from South Florida.
