Ashley is a passionate second grade teacher who adores children & all things related to education. She completed her full-year interniship teaching both Kindergarten and Second Grade from August of 2009 to May of 2010. In May of 2010, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas. For the next year, she worked tirelessly as a substitute teacher accepting jobs for all subjects and grade levels. As a substitute, she was in high demand for her exceptional professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile for teachers and students. Ashley built a highly respected reputation with teachers and administrators leading her to land a long-term substitute job teaching 3rd grade from March to June. In the summer of 2011, she was offered a first grade teaching position at the same school where she completed her full-year internship. Here, Ashley spent 6 years teaching both first grade and second grade. She was a member of the school's Team Leader Committee, Campus Excellence Committee, Standards-Based Report Card Leadership Committee, E-Portfolio Pilot Group, and VALOR Program. She was also nominated for Teacher of the Year in February of 2014 and selected as Teacher of the Year in March of 2016. Ashley is always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally. She takes advantage of opportunities to collaborate with other highly motivated educators through face-to-face conferences, trainings, webinars, Ed Camps, and Twitter. She has also presented professional development sessions for peers at her school and for her peers in her school district. Ashley even finds time to read books that help her grow professionally. Her latest read is, "Leaders Eat Last," by Simon Sinek. Ashley puts her students' needs first by continuing to grow every single day! "I teach, I touch the future. Let my life light the way. Not for glory, fortune or fame. My reward is 'the difference I make.' I teach, I touch the future...every day." Garre LaGrone
