Ashlynn Turner

Spartanburg, South Carolina

Since high school, I have been following my dreams of becoming a veterinarian. From working with dogs and cats in my hometown to wildlife in Australia to penguins in South Africa, I’ve fallen in love with the profession and the benefits of helping these animals. Next year I hope to be working towards my doctorate at the University of Georgia or Mississippi State University.

As I’m now still finishing up undergrad, I also have time to follow my other passion – the outdoors. I spent my study abroad experiences climbing mountains in Cape Town, snorkeling off the Australian coast, and kayaking around Belize. Now that I’m home, I kayak the rivers of South Carolina or hike whenever I find the time. I spent my summer working with high school students in the mountains of West Virginia. As a member of The Space to Impact at Wofford College, I’m starting a program in Spartanburg called Outdoors in the Upstate for local high school students to grow and learn from experiences in the outdoors.

I’m an enthusiastic worker, especially when working towards something I am passionate about. I love traveling and meeting people of other cultures, and am always looking for new ways to explore the world. Although my plans are constantly evolving, I plan to make a difference wherever life may take me.
