Nicolle Asprilla is an 18-year old freshman at Bergen Community College who aspires to further her education and become a certified doctor. Nicolle came to the United States in 2013, and is now fluent in Spanish and English. Although adapting to a completely different culture was a very challenging stage of her life, she managed to go through the arduous process with persistency and hard work which are two of the many qualities that have taken her to where she is now. As a freshman in college, Nicolle decided to accept the challenge of becoming the president of a club (Society of Leaders). She also volunteers at Hackensack hospital and is an ambassador of the Violence Intervention Prevention center. Her constant need for achievement and self-improvement is what causes her to put so much pressure on herself. It also allows her to remove herself from her comfort zone, helping her discover important aspects about herself while gaining experience and building important relationships that will benefit her in the future. She is a strong believer of staying true to oneself and maintaining our unique essence no matter what others may think or want. Nicolle is a determined, disciplined, and responsible young lady who maintains a clear vision of what it is that she wants in life. She’s caring, noble, and empathetic. Nicolle genuinely cares about others; she loves being a helping hand and making others feel special.
