Astati Halim was a shy and quiet girl who enjoyed spending time with her small group of friends. She studied architecture at USC when she was 17 years old and had a hard time communicating because she felt her English wasn’t good enough. She was more comfortable speaking her mother tongue, Bahasa Indonesian. She had a strict father and a loving mother, and a caring sister. Until recently, Astati realized that she was actually the only daughter of her parents, because her sister was adopted. She only found out after her parents passed away, her legal issues arose, and since failing to break after all the bad luck, she has grown stronger in spirit.

She has 3 children and a husband. Her husband lives in Hong Kong, her eldest daughter married a Singaporean and resides in Singapore with him, her eldest son resides in Hong Kong currently working at Oath (Yahoo), and her youngest son resides in New York still in NYU college.
