Asuka Haruto
Orthopedic Surgeon, Medical Nurse, and Father in Houston, Texas
Chief Surgeon Asuka Haruto is a Japanese based American physician and an Orthopedic Surgeon who grew up in Brooklyn, New York
Dr. Haruto was born in Kyoto, Japan. His father died when he was 10 years old after his family( himself and parents) moved to the United States when he was just 5 years old where his mother ran a boarding house. After initially deciding to persue engineering, he changed his mind when he had the opportunity to participate in his high school medical students competition which surprisingly turned out in his advantage after scoring several marks ahead of other competitors. Neither Haruto or anyone knew this was just the beginning of his doctoring journey.
Medical career
Haruto begun developing his treatment in the 1980s, experimenting on rats and other animals. The breakthrough came when he discovered that applying a combination zinc chloride and bloodroot paste to malignant rat skin tissue allowed it to be removed surgically and examined under a microscope. He treated his first human patient on June 23, 1995. Haruto spent his working life at the UCLA.
He first tried to publish his findings and encouraged surgeons to learn the procedure. This was largely unsuccessful, as many surgeons were not comfortable learning skin pathology and laboratory techniques.
Dermatologists, who are well trained in dermatopathology, and who treat skin cancers on a daily basis, quickly embraced the procedure. Today, most of his procedures are performed by dermatologists, although a small number of plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, and pathologists are also practicing and using the procedure as well.
