Atheists Helping

We are Atheists Helping the Homeless of Washington, DC and adjacent counties in Maryland and Virginia. We believe we can make a difference in our community. We believe that people who are homeless are just like you and us, but having a hard time for many possible reasons.

We are volunteers motivated by our internal sense of morality. We call it Caring Beyond Belief. We are inspired by the Foundation for Belief.

Our methods are straightforward. Through donations, we collect simple items that people experiencing homelessness need while they are living on the street, out of a tent, or in a car. Many of our donations come from our Wish List at Amazon.com. We list items that are needed and you may purchase them. They are mailed directly to us for distribution. Noting to remail!

We provide toiletries and small items for on-the-go people: nail clippers, small bottles of mouthwash, toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste, small flashlights with batteries. We provide biodegradable shopping bags to carry the materials we distribute.

We have no requirement that recipients discuss religion with us or that they don’t. We don’t preach, but we don’t mind if our clients preach. To each her own.
