I believe the place where a person grew up says a lot about them. Well . . . I grew up in Cornelia. A small town located in the northeast corner of Georgia; the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

103 Soque {so-ku-wee; Cherokee} Street {the house in this photo} sits at the foot of a hill and marks the gateway to my childhood village. This is the house where I spent most of my childhood days.

I could shout out "Mama, I'm goin' down to The House!" as I ran out the door, granting me instant permission to proceed. "Down to The House" was where she grew up and the home of her parents, my grandparents {this was their bed frame}; Elvira Small "Mama Elvie" & John Gibson "Daddy John".

Across the street from the house was the most active place in our village; Sally's Lunchroom: "The Café". She had everything from hot meals to a jukebox with the latest hits! This is where I just happened to be {at age 9}, one afternoon, alone with Miss Sally {a rare occasion} when James Brown stopped by {on his way to do a concert} to give her a hug.
