AUGUSTO GONCALVES
Politics, Policy & Partnerships.
Hello, my name is Augusto and I am the Founder and Chief Impact Officer of ABT Strategies, LLC, an impact consulting practice operating at the intersection of community engagement, public policy, government affairs, and philanthropy. As an experienced political impact strategist, I champion racial economic equity and inclusive growth by bridging the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to catalyze change, drive impact, and unlock scalable, sustainable growth.
I bring over a decade of experience and deep expertise from the highest levels of government, political campaigns, and community engagement. Most recently, I had the honor and privilege of serving as the Senior Advisor for Strategic Outreach in The White House Office of Political Strategy and Outreach for the Biden-Harris Administration. I first entered the Administration as an Advisor in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, where I managed the agency's outreach and engagement efforts with federal agencies, private sector employers, labor unions, worker-advocacy groups, and other key partners. My public service journey began in municipal government, working for then-Boston City Councilor At-Large Ayanna Pressley (now Congresswoman Pressley).
I also have experience advancing health equity in the nonprofit sector where I served as the Director of Strategic and Philanthropic Partnerships at The Health Initiative (THI), a national nonprofit dedicated to shifting investments towards the social drivers of health. Prior to THI, I had the privilege of serving as the Director of the African American Leadership Council (AALC) at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), where I was responsible for engaging and raising from Black donors and thought leaders nationally to increase the Black community's voice, participation, and influence within the party through high-impact fundraising and engagement initiatives.
A veteran of three presidential campaigns—Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 bid, and Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign— I have consistently operated at the intersection of strategy, mobilization, and coalition building. I have played a key role in raising millions for candidates and causes, and mobilized significant resources for political and social impact. I also previously worked for The Collective PAC, a political action committee focused on recruiting, training, and supporting Black candidates nationwide.
As a first-generation Cape Verdean American, I am deeply committed to expanding access to opportunities, building robust coalitions, and amplifying the voices of underserved, underrepresented, and historically disenfranchised communities. I currently live in Washington, D.C.
