Finding difficulty in landing a job for "lack of local experience", I decided to conduct an informal survey on the needs and problems of new Filipino immigrants. I used my findings in establishing a Filipino Help (Tulungan) Center, which launched my visibility in the community. Five years later, I was elected Chair, Council of Philippine American Organizations of San Diego County, Inc. I held the position for two terms - 1997-1998/2004-2005. I've been involved in many organizations and some of my friends say that my middle name "S" stands for service.
