A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Johns Hopkins University, Austin Durrer holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science, and an MBA. He is a skilled Appropriations Committee expert, possesses a range of campaign and executive branch experience, and has led several statewide and congressional campaigns and congressional operations. Presently, Austin Durrer provides strategy, advice, and lobbying services to clients in the defense and technology spaces as Vice President of Moran Global Strategies.

Mr. Durrer began his career in government as staff assistant for U.S. Representative James P. Moran (with whom he founded Moran Global Strategies). Over his tenure, he held virtually every role within the office, from legislative assistant to communications director, before ultimately becoming chief of staff.

Upon Mr. Moran's retirement from Congress, Mr. Durrer joined the Obama administration as Chief of Staff and Data Coalitions Director at the US Department of Commerce. During this time, he advised Commerce Secretary Pritzker, Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Mark Doms, and helped oversee operations of the US Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Following his work in the Obama administration, Austin set up and ran the office of newly elected US Representative Charlie Crist in the role of Chief of Staff. He later managed Mr. Crist’s campaign for governor of Florida.
