For as long as I can remember, my favorite part of the year has always been the summer. This is because summer means going to the beach. The beach has always held a special place in my heart and is the most peaceful place I know. Feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin and listening to the soothing sound of the waves bring me so much joy. Every summer I go visit my grandparents at their house in Virginia Beach. I spend my days swimming, tanning, fishing, going on long walks, building sandcastles, and playing many different beach sports. These are some of the days I cherish most and look forward to the entire year.

Another reason I love going to the beach so much is the vastness and mystery of the ocean. I am a naturally inquisitive person; the desire to learn more is a quality that has been ingrained in me for as long as I can remember. My curiosity has fueled me to learn more and more about the ocean and its fascinating creatures. I even managed to convince my parents to let me go scuba diving in Mexico. Scuba diving was one of the most amazing adventures of my life; I can still picture the beautiful fish and the clear water with vibrant coral. The experience inspired me to dream of adventure and travel.

Beyond the beautiful scenery, the beach offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time with friends and family. A big part of life for my family is being outdoors. We get outside as much as possible, playing sports, fishing, hunting, or walking the dog. Not surprisingly, some of my favorite memories have been made spending time with friends and family at the beach. Going to the beach guarantees a good time. Whether I’m watching the sunset, searching for marine life, swimming in the ocean, or just relaxing in the sun, a trip to the beach always means fun and great memories.
