Julio Avael is an accomplished Senior Executive and Board Member with more than 20 years of success across the healthcare, education, and media industries. Leveraging extensive experience in growth and change management for organizations, he is a valuable asset for a business in high-growth mode attempting to break into new markets. His broad areas of expertise include crisis management, business development, finance, and operations management.
Throughout his executive career, Julio has held leadership positions at companies including US Care, MCUSA, and OneArt. Currently, he serves as the President of Wentworth Hampshire. Julio has had tremendous success over the years and has served as a key contributor to the achievements of the organizations he has worked with. He has been responsible for building a $300M book of business off a $15K line of credit at MCUSA. Julio also negotiated and secured $2M in seed money for his own company from non-banking sources, allowing him to refine his negotiation and networking skills. Additionally, he has helped Wentworth Hampshire scale the organization by bringing technical work in-house and developing new products which resulted in significant cost saving for the company.
Julio received his Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and his Master of Science in Management from Barry University’s Andreas School of Business. He has also participated in several continuing education classes and has received certifications in Performance Based Management (Harvard University), Corporate Governance (Harvard University), Strategic Management (Florida International University), and Treasury Professional (Florida International University). Additionally, Julio has received a number of honors and accolades for his activism outside of work including the “Lifetime Volunteer Service Award” from former President Obama and the “Best in Business Practice” award from the National Corporation of Community Services. He has also served on the board for non-profit organizations such as the Rotary of Miami and the Non-Violence Foundation.
