Hey, My name is Avery Horlock, I am a New Media student at Ryerson University in my second year. I am also a usports student-athlete playing women’s hockey here at Ryerson. Balancing academics and athletics has made me strong with handling pressure, meeting deadlines and time management. Hockey has also shaped me into the person I am today. It has taught me so many life lessons that I strive to accomplish daily. Teamwork, sportsmanship, support, listening skills, focus, quick thinking, time appreciation, and leadership are just some qualities I take pride in.

I am a very family orientated person and take pride in being a close nit family. I tend to put my family at the center and focuses of my values, strengths, and relationships. I consider this a strength that helps make decisions and shapes my behavior as each member has an influence on me and I know I can always look to them for support. Family and friends have always been important to me and I often find myself looking towards them to confide in and share hopes and dreams for this world and my life.

Ambitions I have for myself are that one day I will be successful in a media or marketing focused job using the skills and personal traits I carry to my advantage every day. I hope I'm successful enough that I have a platform to share experiences and stories with so that others may relate and build confidence in themselves. I also aspire to be someone who influences other people to not be scared to be who they are and to always believe in themselves no matter what life throughs at them and no matter what adversity they might face throughout.
