Hi! I’m Avery and I am from Dallas, Texas.

I love pilates, cooking, and fashion, but one of my absolute favorite things to do is travel (basic, I know). I have always been fascinated with Paris, (largely due to my favorite movie “The Devil Wears Prada”), and this summer, I was lucky enough to go. I was ecstatic but also VERY skeptical because of the whole “Anti-American attitude” I've heard so much about.

The first night, we went out to a cafe and I SPILLED ESCARGOT ALL OVER MYSELF (those snails were insanely slippery), and I immediately started catastrophizing thinking my trip was doomed (sometimes I am very dramatic). The waitress came over, and it turns out she could tell we were not from there (shocker), but was ready to help, and told us everything we needed to know. She explained the best way to communicate, which landmarks were actually worth visiting, and which restaurants and shops were the most underrated, which led us to the best food tour I have EVER experienced.

We were led through small, local neighborhoods by a guide who had grown up in the area, where we learned the history of Paris's oldest chocolate companies, each specializing in a different chocolate creation (which we of course tried all). I am a huge foodie, and I am not exaggerating when I say I would hop on a plane right now just to go back for a Jean-Paul Hévin mint chocolate truffle (incredible).

We went to other smaller shops, restaurants, and landmarks, and needless to say, the unexpected, niche moments of my time in Paris made me realize how much I truly loved every aspect of it, and how wrong I was about it. I even saw not one, but TWO people with Georgia gear on (I took this as a sign), and now I can confidently say I LOVED it, and I am absolutely hoping to live and work there in the future!
