Alissa Wassung
Director of Policy and Planning in New York
Alissa Wassung is a values-driven leader and expert on how food and nutrition can steer the health of communities and improve people's lives. She currently serves as the Director of Policy & Planning at God’s Love We Deliver, the nonsectarian medically tailored home-delivered meal provider in NYC. Alissa is responsible for the public policy function at God’s Love and manages public contracts, the Food Is Medicine Advocacy Initiative, research endeavors and healthcare integration. Through Alissa’s guidance and planning, God’s Love has integrated successfully with healthcare reform in New York State to better serve clients through the Medicaid managed long term care program, the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment Model, the Balancing Incentives Project and the continued movement toward value based payment.
Alissa is the co-founder and Policy Committee Chair of the Food is Medicine Coalition, a national volunteer association of nonprofit, medically tailored food and nutrition services providers across the country seeking to integrate nutrition into healthcare for the severely and chronically ill. Alissa also co-chairs the Structural Interventions Working Group of the Federal AIDS Policy Partnership, which brings together food and nutrition, housing, criminal justice and employment advocates around national issues involving social determinants of health for people living with HIV.
