Student in 19 Saratoga Avenue

I’m a 4th year student studying Bachelor of Education at the university of Johannesburg majoring in English and History.

Growing up I have always wondered what it felt like being an adult and being responsible not only for yourself but for those you care for and in this instance my learners.

As an aspiring teacher before anything else I see myself as a guardian some might say a parent. I believe being a teacher encompasses all qualities one should hold as a parent. I want to become what I term a “go to teacher” this type of teacher treats their learners as their children but in a professional sector.

My main aim is to create minds that can actively contribute to the society at large disregarding their social position in life, to challenge their societal norms and to sharpen their reasoning capacities such that they become confident agents of change. I would love to look at my learners in the future and become proud, proud of the adults they would have become who are confident, smart, bold, composing of all good qualities.

It is important to me that I use what I have learnt to influence and change lives, anywhere and everywhere because we never stop learning regardless of the age.
