"Discipline, Knowledge, Connections, Experience and Mentorship" describe me and "A fall that led to a rise" explains me. I got married quite young at nineteen, had my daughter at twenty and was divorced by twenty-one. Though a cruel experience at a very young age, I am thankful as it was a “wake-up call” that taught me the true value of my capabilities. It showed me my inner-strength and how strong I can truly be in the face of adversity. A single mother raising up an incoming mother, a hard working student keeping "Very Good Grades" along all my academic years, a divorced woman self-studying Law.. frequenting family courts without a lawyer and a volunteer in various community activities and non-profit organizations.
Challenging Eastern traditional views about divorced single mothers, I strode strongly forward with my head held high. Within a short time following my divorce, I became the family provider/head of household, an employee, a community leader, student, and proud mother. Never accepting a negative posture or allowing others to define my fate and future. Obstacles do not derail my resolve but merely make me more determined to be successful - for both myself and my daughter. As my daughter’s role model it is important that she see my passion for higher-education as much for myself as for her.
I am taking on various positions and responsibilities academically, educationally, and socially. It is my strong belief that by gaining diverse experiences through work in a variety of fields such as; fundraising, human resources, social media, public relations, research and development, and mentorship, etc.
