Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) was first launched in 2008 as part of Nippon Paint’s vision in nurturing the next generation of design talents. In 2016, the name was changed from Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) to Asia Young Designer Award (AYDA) to reflect the scale in terms of the Award’s reach and stature into 15 Asian countries.

Since then, the award has extended its presence across 15 countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, and Sri Lanka.

AYDA is a platform that connects students & professionals from across Asia to share and celebrate design ideas. This competition also serves as a nurturing platform for aspiring architecture and interior design students to develop their skills through the exchange of design ideas, cross-border learning, and networking with key industry players and fellow architecture and interior design peers in the region.

The Asia Young Designer Award would be the inspiration and the spark that brings forth the best out of the interior design and architectural students so that their work would eventually gain recognition in the local and international arena.
