I am currently a sophomore majoring in Chemical Engineering with an Applied Computer Security minor at USC in the 'City of Angels' - Los Angeles. My years growing up were split between the cities of Leicester, Riyadh, Dhaka & Kodaikanal; so yes I've lived in places where cultures & languages are completely different!

Coming into university I had no idea what I wanted to study so I picked Chemical Engineering as my major as it was the intersectionof my favorite subjects - Chemistry & Economics. Chemical Engineering to me is scaling chemical processes from the lab to the world in a cost effective manner. Engineering is all about taking what's available in nature and making it useful to mankind.

Currently, I am interested in pursuing internships and training in the oil and gas industry to develop skills and experience required to work in the industry upon graduating in May 2018. I'm particularly interested in the oil & gas industry because the output that results affects the lives of all people around the world. Also, this industry always has to be dynamic and far encompassing - constantly innovating to make processes more cost effective to counter downturns and also developing processes that produce alternative cleaner fuels as climate change begins to take it's toll on earth. The other industry I'm interested is in Digital Forensics, last semester I had free units to pick up an extra class and so I took Introduction to Information Security with Joseph Greenfield. It is probably one of the best decisions I've made - it was a very intriguing class with applications in an industry that's rapidly growing and pertains to working on really cool cases in industry.

Attending USC has also made me evaluate my interests outside of Engineering - there are so many classes I want to take in the School for Communication & Journalism and also in the School of Business but I have packed schedule as it is with my major and minor. So thus I've decided to blog outside of class to improve my writing skills, share my opinions and help others with advice.
