Aysar Al Khafaji
I am originally from Iraq, and came to the United States in 2008 with my family - my husband, son, and two daughters. We were extremely fortunate to be with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) from the start. I was granted the opportunity to become a professional interpreter. I also started teaching Arabic classes as well (1st to 6th grade level).
Being a professional interpreter (Arabic & English) has enabled me to undergo professional training for the medical, legal, and community service fields. Through my profession, I am able to help and support the community by connecting them to the services they need. I appreciate the journey I am on, and hope to motivate others to achieve their goals. I am blessed to be able to speak at different venues, such as schools, churches and community events, to motivate others and share my story. God gave us a gift of helping each other - it is the most precious gift for us and for those who want to make a difference in their lives.
