Azan Kung

Originally from New York City, Azan Kung attended Yale University / School of Drama, the recipient of the Gordon J. Micunis scholarship, she received a Masters of Fine Arts in Design. After graduating Yale, Azan worked as a Costume Designer and Art Director on a number of feature films and television projects including: Fever, Six Degrees of Separation, Oleanna, Harvest, A Life in the Theater, Summer of Sam, David Letterman's High Life and the very popular ABC series Soul Man.

Utilizing her extensive training in graphic arts, Azan started her career in Advertising as a Designer at Tribal DDB Worldwide where she worked on campaigns for Amtrak, Sephora, BestBuy, Saks Fifth Avenue, Foxwood Casino and Lockheed Martin. After moving to Southern California, Azan trained to become an Editor under the tutelage of Katz at CosmoStreet in Santa Monica, she worked on many internationally renowned commercials: Mercedes Benz, Sprint, Ikea, Nike, and the Indie documentary Sneakerheads.

Azan got her first break as a Preditor – Writer/Producer/Director/Editor on regional commercials for Charter Media/Time Warner, producing, and directing over 200 broadcast spots over the span of 5 years.

Azan's current clients include Metan Media, where she cuts original segments for "Hello Hollywood" China – a weekly entertainment television series, NHRA - designing and editing promos and broadcast segments for the turbo-charged world of Drag Racing.

Azan comes from the traditional school of filmmaking, and has a tremendous respect for the art and the process; she spent her early childhood around movie sets where her grandfather Henry Kung produced and pioneered modern Asian Cinema for the Central Motion Picture Company. Clients are continuously drawn to her consummate professionalism, her unique vision, and the gift of storytelling in a wide range of genres.
