Anna V. Zulaica is a nutrition educator, former Chef, and published Cookbook author located in the San Francisco Bay Area. A daughter to a Mexican mother and Basque father, Anna was raised near the Mexican-American border and has traveled all around the world, where she has been exposed to a wide array of cuisines and cultures. Anna has traveled to the Basque country to visit with family, where she learned to cook authentic Basque dishes with fresh ingredients from local villages. She also traveled to Florence, Italy, where she took a private culinary course on Italian cuisine, wine and the Mediterranean diet. She also spent time on an organic farm in Tuscany baking organic, vegan breads, pastries, and biscotti in a wood-fired oven. Anna is a certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant that enjoys writing healthy cook books and volunteering her time to the local community to teach about accessible, healthy cooking and eating. She is also a passionate supporter of local farms and sustainable food growers and providers.
Anna is the founder and chef of her healthy catering business, Presto! Catering and Food Services. She also teaches healthy cooking classes and workshops throughout the Bay Area. Anna's recipes were in a book on nutrition called, The Antioxidant Counter: A Pocket Guide to the Revolutionary ORAC Scale for Choosing Healthy Foods. March 2012, Anna co-authored The DASH Diet Cookbook: Quick and Delicious Recipes for Losing Weight, Preventing Diabetes, and Lowering Blood Pressure, a cookbook focusing on lowering high blood pressure, preventing diabetes and losing weight through means of a healthy diet and active life style. Anna created and wrote over 140 recipes for this book, including smoothies, breakfast, lunch, dinner, sides and appetizers, and desserts.
