I grew up in the Lincoln Projects in Harlem, New York. I started writing poetry when I was 9. Gwen Brooks & LeRoi Jones showed me that a young black boy could write poetry( later on I shared stages with my idols). I started publishing as a teeneager. I went to VietNam as Marine a N.C.O. and combat decorated. I came back and joined the radical black movement (which included the Black Arts Movement). I was less focused on my literary career than I was on fighting for black people. I have read on three continents, and am listed in: Who's Who in America; Who's Who in The World; Who's Who in American Education; Who's Who in America-writers. Editors, Poets; Who's Who in North American Poetry; The International Who's Who in Poetry; The International Writers and Authors Who's Who; and the Poets and Writers Directory. I have been called A Master Poet.
