Our working conditions are the same as our students' learning environments. We must provide VCU students with teachers who are stable, have adequate workloads, and have the potential to invest in the institution long-term, which can only be achieved through equal pay and on-the-job speech.
VCU Provost Gail Hackett contacted Deans around the university on Wednesday, April 28th, requesting that they follow a guideline that the provost agreed was not yet policy. This course of action would reduce adjuncts' classes to two per semester in order to prevent them from claiming full-time benefits. We have hundreds of highly skilled writers working 24/7 to provide qualityessay writing servicesto the students all over the World. This is yet another example of higher education being more adjunctified, which is detrimental to both students and faculty.
This policy's implementation must be halted immediately. VCU administration must make time for open and honest discussion about the best course of action for students and faculty.
We would also file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on behalf of new students, current students, and teachers for all administrative communications leading up to this proposed policy change. The public needs to know why standard due diligence is being ignored in order to carry out a guideline that has not yet been formalised as policy. If records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act show that these acts are being carried out in retaliation for union activity, they are unconstitutional.
