My name is Bailey and one of my main interests is volunteering with Braveheart Bulliez Rescue. This organization is a foster-based rescue for severely abused, neglected and homeless dogs. My family and I have volunteered and fostered with their rescue since I was in middle school. I have primarily worked around Pitbull's throughout my time with them and helped rehabilitate them until they are ready to be adopted.
Animals have always been an interest of mine growing up, but it wasn’t until I started working with this rescue and other rehab programs that it started to grow into a passion of mine. I have started to shadow at veterinary clinics over the summer to obtain my hours for vet school. I get my animal experience through rescues and rehab centers like Braveheart Bulliez and my veterinary experience through the clinic this specific rescue works with. I have been a dog handler at events they host, spent time at the center taking the dogs on walks to get them socialized, and help around when they need it. This rescue has given me an extensive amount of opportunities to connect with so many animals and people.
I have always found animals to be great companions in my life and others. Working with them has been a great place for me to go whenever I feel stressed or have time on my hands. I love that I can bring warmth, security, joy and so much else back into their lives. Being able to be along with them in their journey to recovery and see the light come back into their eyes is one of the many reasons I want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
