Barry Baldwin
Former Bus Operator in New York
A member of the school band and football team at Mims High School in McCormick County, South Carolina, Barry Baldwin moved to New York after graduating from high school and began working as a machine operator in the mailroom of Chase Manhattan Bank, where he utilized technology to organize and prepare mail to be sent to customers. He later worked in a similar role for Bradford Securities and Time Direct Service before becoming a bus operator for the New York City Transit Authority in 1987.
Barry Baldwin drove buses for the city until 2014, during which time he earned multiple safety awards and certificates, including one for providing outstanding service for people with disabilities. Now retired, he maintains an active lifestyle by working out with light weights, walking as much as five miles per week, and riding his bicycle 10 miles on weekends. Beyond that, he enjoys listening to a diverse range of music, including blues, jazz, rock, pop, and R&B.
