Aubrey Bantu Nyongwana.
A Sotho guy from Sterkspruit. He have three brothers & a sister. He was born on the 26th of February 1993 and lived with his family in Kalbaskraal small location near Malmesbury in the Western Cape before he went to Gugulethu in 1998. He stayed with his parents, sister, two brothers. His older brother stayed in Gugulethu.
He then moved to Gugulethu in 1998 where he stayed with his grandparents (Mother's parents), aunt, uncle, big bro and two cousins. Started schooling in 1999 at Sonwabo Primary School for three years and went back to Malmesbury where he went to Naphakade Primary School for a year and came back in 2004 & finished my grade 7 in Sonwabo, 2006. Gugulethu Comprehensive Secondary School is where he finished my matric in 2011.
Growing up in Gugulethu was good but he had to be transferred back to Malmasbery, because all of his friends were doing bad things like smoking and being gangsters . Being taken back to Malmesbury was like being taken back to Transkai to go work as a farm boy. I exaggerate off course because in Malmesbury I was with my loving family, who gave me the space and freedom to express myself through my music, in times of darkness and in times of happiness.
I first met and fell in love with House Music in 2005. My love for House Music got stronger in 2009 while I was in Gugs Comp (high school). I met Bongile and Nkosinathi, who were classmates. And then there was Zingisa April and Sandisile Ndlela, who were also House Heads from Sterksprait. Bongile was a Dj & Nkosonathi was a hustler. That is why we named him "CHOPPA" he was the one organising gigs, so I always went to gigs with them, until I decided to start DJying too. I then bought a pouch and burned 10 CD's & the next weekend we had a gig in Woodstock at some Sport Pub that's where I started playing, without any lesson.
I was influenced & inspired by CULOE DE SONG and DA CAPO and other Afro/Tribal Dj who were hot those days. Before I became a dj used to be a soccer player. I was the youngest striker, so my team mates and fans decided to name me “Benny McCarthy”. I then decided to quit soccer and started something fresh. I loved house music with all my heart so I then started to dj & played at parties and clubs using CD players in 2009. We were playing with an American Audio CD player. Back in the early days of my DJ career, I played in some pubs in Goodwood, Saltriver
