"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do" Helen Keller. Barbara Dajour Cromartie is a prime example of that quote by Hellen Keller. Throughout Barbara's life, she's done nothing but do everything she can to reach her goals. Born in Durham, North Carolina to LaSheka Melvin and Larry Cromartie, she was mainly raised by her mother and grandmothers. With the help of ambitious women, it helped her become the strong woman she is this day. Cromartie went to WG Pearson for Pre-K and kindergarten. She attended a charter school named Omuteka Gwamazima from first to third grade. It was an African based school where the kids learned Swahili and Swahili culture. For the rest of elementary school, she attended Pearsontown Elementary. Rogers-Herr was the school she attended throughout middle school. In 2014, she graduated from Hillside High School with a 3.1 GPA of that term.

Currently, Barbara is a Freshman at North Carolina Central University, studying to receive her bachelor's degree in psychology. Barbara has always wanted to major in psychology from the moment she was introduced to it. Her passion is working with people to help them solve their problems and issues. Barbara's life took an exciting turn when she found out that it is Counseling that she prefer to do. Most problems that she help people with is in reference to relationships or family. Overall, Barbara have learned that decisions about what one pursues career wise should base upon what they can spend the rest of their lives enjoying and has nothing to do with profits.

While being a student at NCCU, Barbara will strive to do her best in her studies and try to maintain a positive attitude that will only help her in the long run.
