Highlands Ranch, Colorado
I was born and raised in Iowa, a fact that has created the strong foundation I draw from daily. Our family was pretty typical until my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Life changed for us all over those months she was sick and continued to change after her death. My aunt had come to help care for my mom and the three of us kids. She stayed to help the three of us kids adjust to the loss of our mom. My dad eventually remarried, setting up the life experiences that laid another foundation for me--years of soul searching and eventual therapy.
I married in my early twenties. He was a high school sweetheart. I think we both knew we were making a mistake. We divorced after 5 years of making some bad decisions on both of our parts, the least of which was looking for love in all the wrong places for both of us.
Dealing with my own choices in relationships helped me make the choice to leave Iowa and move west to Colorado. Here I began a new career doing pediatric echocardiography at Children's Hospital. I learned a lot and met the people who were instrumental in helping me find the man who has made my life joyful for the past 20 plus years.
I left Children's in the late 90's to join a private pediatric cardiology practice. My patients and their families are important parts of my professional life. I am thankful for all they have given me and taught me over the years.
Writing has always been a passion but one that has had to take a back seat to my "official" career. It is now time to let the words come out of my head and share my life's experiences. I have had so many wonderful friends and teachers over the year. I have a duty to share on so many levels and look forward to doing just that!
