Barbara Kiama is devoted Trainer, Program Coordinator, Social Entrepreneur and a Tony Elumelu Foundation Business Mentor; passionate about equipping African youth with the relevant knowledge, Entrepreneurial skills and competencies required to achieve Economic Sustainability in todays economy.
She has 17 years' experience in the Entrepreneurship field, 11 years’ experience in Training, 6 years’ experience in Program Development, Coordination and Management of a Higher Learning Institution.
As the founder of The B.A Fashion Hub (formally known as The B.A Fashion Institute), her current role involves Program Development, Business Development and Operations. She designs, develops and implements programs that integrate technical skills training, entrepreneurial skills and professional skills training to prepare the youth for labour market entry.
One particular role that is of utmost importance to her, is establishing strategic partnerships. She has collaborated with multiple industry players to provide career advice, access to international markets, industrial training, attachment and employment opportunities for her trainees.
She has partnered with 10 Textile and Creative industry players in the implementation of TVET DUAL Training and the Awjaama Cultural Centre in Eastleigh, Nairobi where she trained a group of Somali refugee women on income generating activities.
Apart from Training and Program Coordination, Kiama is passionate about environmental conservation and recycling of plastics to reduce pollution.
