Barbara Mumby Huerta is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, and executive leader working at the intersection of art, equity, and systems change.

With more than 25 years of experience across philanthropy, public agencies, and nonprofit leadership, her work centers Indigenous knowledge, trauma-informed practice, and community-rooted approaches to cultural governance. She has led and advised complex initiatives focused on public art, reparations, racial equity, and narrative change—guiding institutions through moments of reckoning toward accountability and repair.

Barbara’s artistic practice explores memory, land, lineage, and resilience through visual art, storytelling, and community-engaged projects. Her work has contributed to landmark efforts addressing racist public imagery, supporting Indigenous sovereignty, and reimagining public space as a site of healing rather than harm.

She works nationally as an artist, curator, writer, and consultant. Across roles, her practice is grounded in the belief that art is the infrastructure for collective care, truth-telling, and transformation.

She lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area on the unceded ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone.
