- I'm Barbara Rubel, BS, MA, BCETS, DAAETS, a recognized authority and award-winning author specializing in vicarious trauma.
- As a nationally recognized keynote speaker and thanatologist, I help audiences to build career resilience through vicarious trauma-informed practices.
- Since 1991, I have presented to over 1,000 organizations. My keynote FABULOUS Transformation® focuses on practical wellness strategies for clinicians and first responders.
- I'm a board-certified expert in traumatic stress and a diplomate with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
- I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Community Health, with a concentration in thanatology, both from Brooklyn College.
- I am the co-author of Living Blue: Helping Law Enforcement Officers and Their Families Survive and Thrive from Recruitment to Retirement(2023) and the author of But I Didn’t Say Goodbye: Helping Families After a Suicide (3rd ed., 2020). I serve as the reviewer for the 30-hour CE course, Loss, Grief, and Bereavement: Helping Individuals Cope(2023), and authored its first four editions.
- Twenty years ago, I co-authored the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime Training Curriculum, Compassion Fatigue. - Three weeks before giving birth to triplets, my father died by suicide. My story was featured in the Emmy Award-winning documentary, Fatal Mistakes, Families Shattered by Suicide.
- As a suicidologist, I educate clinicians about suicide grief and bereavement through my Palette of Grief® program.
