BRIAN PAUL BARKEY has been creating artwork for clients for over 20 years. A graduate of the University of Denver School of Art (BFA ’89) Barkey’s emphasis has always been detail oriented illustration. In 1990, he participated in the Golden Chamber of Commerce Landmark Calendar. In 1991 a promising illustration career in the soccer industry was sparked with the debut of a cartoon page in United States Youth Soccer Association’s Network magazine. He has been supplying cartoons and illustrations for regional and national soccer publications ever since. Major League Soccer Magazine published Barkey’s work from 2006-2009 under the title "Round Ball - Square Goal."
A career in portraiture started in 1991, and each year he is commissioned to do watercolors for a variety of clients.
As an educator, Barkey is certified as an Art Teacher for students K-12 in Colorado. He has taught in both Jefferson and El Paso County, and has conducted private and public instruction. Passionate about digital media and film, he instructs LPTV, the Lewis-Palmer High School broadcast network. During LPTV, students produce video packages and daily news announcements. Each summer, Barkey can be found sharpening his skills and discovering new subjects to paint while on trips domestically and internationally. Recently, he returned from the Women's World Cup in Canada, where he posted daily cartoons of the event between excursions to local sites. Research is something he takes great pride in, as it adds to the quality of the artwork he’s able to share with clients.
2015 marks the tenth year of business for Barkey Creative, a service that assists clients with anything that has to do with art. Over the last eight years, Brian Barkey has worked with private individuals who make purchases via an online gallery to corporations who desire custom, over-sized paintings. Exclusive commissions are easy, as are consultations for offices who want an art program that reflect their business objectives.
Brian Barkey is also very active in the soccer community as a coach. He has been a contributor to Colorado Goal Post Scripts since 2004 and Minnesota Youth Soccer Times. For more information about the artist, please visit: www.barkeycreative.com .
