Merced, California, United States
Born and raised in the inner city of Los Angeles, California. A place in which is fairly easy to fall under the stigma associated with you appearance, color and culture. I struggled to fight the norm of the future that was expected to await me. Uneducated, pregnant or initiated in a gang. I decided to pursue education and become an example for those "meant" to follow the expected fate as I. My family migrated to the United States with no knowledge of the country's native language or the way of navigating it, in order to provide a better life for my siblings and I. From time to time I witness the struggles my parents endured to allow me to have the opportunities they never had. This rooted my motivation to pursue higher education and become a well-rounded woman. I do not want to have the same fate as my parents nor the one my peers where falling under.
“Knowledge and education are the keys to success” was the concept embed by my parents at a very young age. I have always enjoyed learning and in time I realized that I would love to facilitate the learning development of others. One day I hope to inspire the young minds of children and stress the importance of applying and educating themselves. I am currently pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Business Management with a Minor in Psychology in order to become an educational activist. I want to promote higher education and allocate resources needed to achieve it in underprivileged communities around the world. I plan to create a non profit organization that advocates higher education among disadvantaged communities, which I hope will increase the numbers of educated children thus improving the quality of life. I want my life to count in such a way that will impact the world in a positive way.
