Barry King

Barry is a fulltime MBA Global Management student in his 3rd trimester, and a recipient of Thunderbird’s prestigious SHARE Fellowship. His academic focus area is Global Marketing and he seeks a career path in Marketing Communications in Sports Business, International Development or Energy and Environment. He is from Ghana, West Africa.

Professionally, he has a 5-year experience in commercial banking with Ecobank, which is the largest banking group across Africa, operating in 42 countries. He was the Learning and Development Manager, with extended work responsibilities around West Africa. He was also E-banking Sales and Support Manager, after successfully excelling in a management trainee program with the Retail Marketing Unit.
Barry has been a passionate global youth mentor, serving with the Center for Talented Youth Program by Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA (2005), Camp Hilltop in Hancock, New York (2006), The Sahara Springs Sports Outreach Program by Athletes-In-Action, USA in Mali (2002). He has also supported several volunteer causes like the Thunder Cares-Habitat for Humanity Program, Peoria, AZ (2013) and the Ecobank Charity Foundation Support Mission, Ridge Hospital (2011).

Furthermore, Barry is a Campus Ambassador for Thunderbird and also a member of the Project Management, African Business, Soccer, Dance, Net Impact, Marketing, and Volleyball Clubs on campus. A former team captain of the Commonwealth Hall Soccer team at the University of Ghana and coach of the Psychology Student’s Soccer team, He is an accomplished soccer player at college and high school levels and is still an active sports man, an avid fan and player of soccer, volleyball, and table tennis.
