Barry Kevin O‘Rourke

The managing director of a large mining company in Guyana, Barry Kevin O’Rourke oversees all mining operations for diamonds and precious metals in the country’s jungle regions. In addition to handling all day-to-day operations at the company, both within the city and the jungle interior, he manages the buying and selling processes for precious minerals and metals. Barry Kevin O'Rourke and his company operate on 25 blocks of jungle land, each comprised of 1,200 acres, that were allocated to the company by the Guyana government. The company works next to Guyana Goldfields, another mining company that extracts upwards of 250,000 ounces of gold annually.
Active in the professional community, Mr. O’Rourke works closely with the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), an organization that has been supporting professional miners, the public, and mining industry investors for more than four decades. Moreover, he remains apprised of GGMC-led developments in the mining industry and regularly attends government functions relating to the mining industry.
Besides his professional endeavors, Barry Kevin O’Rourke is committed to helping others. Toward that end, he has contributed to several organizations that support families living in underserved regions and children in need. More recently, he has supported hospitals in Guyana by ensuring they have the personal protective equipment they needed to fight COVID-19.
