Barry Osmun
After graduating from high school in Chatam in 1980 I decided to enroll at St. Thomas University in Fredericton. It was at St. Thomas where I really learned the value of critical thinking which I use daily whether in my personal or business life. While working towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in English and Marketing I learned to anylize situations fully before formulating opinions. Ultimately this has helped me immensely in my business career as I have been very successful in identifying strengths and weaknesses in organizations and formulating strategic plans aimed at building on the strengths and mitigating the weaknesses of the companies I have had the great fortune of working for.
Like many young people, when I graduated I was unsure what I wanted to do with my life. However I did know that it would need to allow me some creative license while working with a wide variety of personalities. I managed to land my first sales position and this ignited a passion within which has lead to a very rewarding career which has encompassed everything from Territory and Retail management to Marketing and Business Development. It has been a journey that has lead me to the crossroads I find myself at now.
In 2002 my passion for learning lead me to begin taking my MBA through correspondence and in 2006 I left my position as Director of Sales and Marketing for Groupe Blanchard in Bathurst after meeting my Haligonian fiance and continued my career in Halifax. My resume really only shows that I have held some great positions with some very reputable companies. What my resume does not show however is who I am. I am a combination of creative energy mixed in with a dry sense of humour, strong business acumen, empathy for my fellow man and an intense desire to succeed at whatever I do. The satisfaction of taking an underperforming business and helping it realize it's potential is unlike no other. Although I have extensive training in business it is my ability to think outside the box that made me a success. My passions include politics, the Habs and writing.
I consider myelf a motivator who leads by example. "Life is a journey, not a destination". - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Ultimately I want to leave this life knowing I made a difference.
Keep Smiling and Stay Positive. And thanks for stopping by.
