Bartender for Hire in New Orleans, Louisiana
I am a Bartender for Hire currently living in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I used to work as a stockroom manager for a store in the Riverwalk. I finished my work pretty early most days, but was required to stay on the clock until closing. I'd hang out at the Paradise Island Bar down the hall all the time. One evening ~1999, the bar manager said to me; "You're always hanging out here. Why don't you get a job here?" My response: “Give me a job.” I started the next week. I’m a bartender, not mixologist, bar chef, or anything fancy. I make drinks. I tend bar.
Best thing about working the Hotel Monteleone bar is that there are actually two bars: The Carousel Bar and the lobby bar/back bar/Broken Carrousel (the one that don't spin) (the one with the Chandelier). I opened the Broken Carousel in 2011 and worked there until I was laid off due to the pandemic. I love that it has its own identity, its own regulars, just like the Carousel does. Management tells us that we're the same, but it's public knowledge that management chooses to ignore, we get to have our own identity while being so closely intertwined with both New Orleans history and cocktail history (Vieux Carre') I feel like I’m a part of the cool kids club just because I work there. Instant status!
Nowadays you can catch me making bespoke cocktails at the Chandelier Bar inside the Four Seasons Hotel at the foot of Canal Street.

I do private parties, however, i do have a regular work schedule. Beware, I need to request off work for Fri/Sat nights. Please understand that not all requests will be granted. Usually, the earlier the request, the better. NYE & Mardi Gras are blackout dates. I won't be granted those requests regardless.
