Basciani Foods

A fifth-generation family-owned business, Basciani Foods has been growing mushrooms from its farm in Avondale, Pennsylvania, for nearly a century. A full-service and operationally consolidated enterprise, the company handles all aspects of growing, packaging, and shipping its produce. In addition to producing a wide range of popular and exotic mushroom species, Basciani Foods offers other fresh produce that ranges from blackberries to avocados.

Shipping throughout the United States, Basciani Foods distributes approximately 1.5 million pounds of produce each week. Driven in large part by the growing demand for meatless protein options, the demand for mushrooms as meat filler and substitute is currently booming.

Basciani has a longstanding reputation for rushing its products to clients in an effort to maximize freshness. In 2020, the company revamped its packaging arm to employ a patented material that breathes. In addition to doubling the shelf life of mushrooms, this material led to a substantial reduction in overall plastic waste.
