A renowned and highly qualified basement repair contractor in the greater Columbus and central Ohio area has earned itself a great reputation for honesty, integrity, and professionalism and prides itself on using the best practices in the industry. Additionally, the company has earned a superb rating with the Better Business Bureau and has accumulated many 5-star reviews from happy customers.

And when other basement services companies demonstrate a less than caring attitude toward their customers, Jeff Hedrick, the owner of C & J Basement Solutions, feels that homeowners have the right to know:

“We observe what’s going on in the industry, and are often quite appalled by what some companies will do to sell their services,” says Hedrick.

Hedrick is particularly concerned about a local basement services company, the Ohio Basement Authority, which has recently been bought out. Although under new ownership, the company has not changed its name and has not informed current or new customers that there has been an acquisition.

While this in itself is lacking in honesty, Hedrick is more concerned about customers’ warranties:

“What now becomes of the customers’ warranties who contracted with Ohio Basement Authority prior to being bought out? Are they simply out of a warranty? No, they’re not. Basement Systems Dealers are backed by Basement Systems corporate office. However, the closest dealer to service a warranty is two hours away.

So my concern is, if indeed the warranties are valid through Basement Systems, how long will it take to receive service?”

Hedrick reckons that there would be about 6 years worth of customers who had their basements waterproofed by Ohio Basement Authority while the company was still under the Basement Systems umbrella.

“Let's say I live in Columbus OH and my sump pump (under warranty) fails and my basement starts to flood. I would call Basement Systems because Ohio Basement Authority will no longer service my system that they installed. Then I find out that the closest Basement Systems dealer is now in Cincinnati, Lima, or Cleveland OH. It’s going to take them a minimum of two hours to get to my house as I watch the water levels rise.”

Hedrick feels that this type of practice reflects poorly on the industry as a whole, but wants people to be aware of the situation.
