Marloe Kyril H. Maruyama is a scholar under the Original Pilipino Performing Arts Foundation (OPPA) currently taking Bachelor of Music in Performance, majoring in double bass at the University of Santo Tomas under the tutelage of Prof. Ariston Payte III. His former mentors were Mr. Manuel Piñon and Prof. Rommel Cruz.
He was awarded the top award (Champion) in the Professional category of the recently concluded Online Double Bass Competition 2022 organized by Edmond Cheng's Music Center in Hong Kong. He was the Principal Bass player of the Asian Youth Orchestra for two consecutive years (2018-2019). He had the privilege of performing in masterclasses for Phoebe Russel, Naohisa Furusawa, and Gjorgji Cincievski. He was the Principal Bass of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY) from 2017 to 2022.
Currently, Marloe is a mentor to The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY). He also performs as a guest musician with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and has been playing with the Manila Baroque Ensemble for several years. Marloe also plays the electric bass, doing gigs and musicals professionally. The most recent ones were Rama, Hari and RENT.
