Basu Gaudel

Writer in Newwestminster BC

Basu Dev Gaudel, known by his pen name Bijay, is a Nepali-born Canadian writer whose work explores belonging, identity, and the immigrant journey. Raised in the cultural heart of Nepal and now rooted in British Columbia, he writes from the crossroads of two homelands that continue to shape his life.

His debut book, Roots in Nepal, Wings in Canada, blends memoir, cultural reflection, and personal storytelling to capture the emotional journey of leaving home, building a new life, and carrying one’s heritage across borders. Through vivid scenes and thoughtful narrative, Gaudel shares the experiences of diaspora communities while celebrating the enduring connection between Nepal and Canada.

Beyond writing, he is actively engaged in community life, particularly among the growing Nepali-Canadian population. His work aims to preserve stories, promote understanding between cultures, and inspire others navigating the challenges and opportunities of migration.

Gaudel is currently working on his second book, which will explore interconnected themes of sociology, economics, politics, diplomacy, and current affairs in both Nepal and Canada.
