Mike Bates
Michael Bates: My advociation is to help make our country's health care system being one of the best in the world. I have worked towards that goal by working for the federal government and the private sector. Despite the controversies surrounding Obamacare, the U.S. is still a world leader in providiing long-term care services. There is good news: The new health care law requires health insurance companies — to no longer cancel health coverage whenever a policyholder gets sick. Health insurers have said that they will stop wrongfully canceling patients. An investigative report by Reuters disclosed that the nation’s largest insurer, WellPoint, was targeting women who were recently diagnosed with breast cancer for cancelation of their health insurance. The bad publicity has led to necessary reforms. The hope is that the negative publicity will end such health insurance abuses.
