Throughout her career as an educator and administrator, Bayinaah Jones has promoted cultural awareness and competency with an emphasis on maintaining instructional effectiveness and relevant curricula. She serves as dean of language arts at San Jose City College and has worked extensively with the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District. Most recently, Bayinaah Jones served the district as executive director of research and institutional effectiveness.

In this latter role, Dr. Jones led the district in establishing student equity as a measure of outcome effectiveness. She prioritized retention, persistence toward goals, and academic success as major targets for institutional strategizing.

Bayinaah Jones holds a doctor of philosophy, in education and anthropology with an emphasis on education policy, curriculum, equity, and research from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She completed her dissertation on the Tinsley class-action lawsuit, a decade-long case that resulted in the creation of a voluntary transfer program to reduce the achievement gap for low-income Latinx and African-American students.

Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Jones received a master of education with a concentration in administration, planning, and social policy from Harvard University as well as a bachelor of arts in American studies.
