Grettings! I am Dr. Bob Bakko LCPC, PC, and have been associated with Northwest Counseling Center LLC in Billings, Montana since 1984. My current general practice includes counseling with adults, adolescents, couples, faith-based counseling, forensic evaluations & assessments, facilitating therapy groups and administering comprehensive evaluations and assessments. I work with individuals and couples who have or are experiencing Domestic & Sexual Violence. I have also served as President of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and State Chapter the Montana Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors Association. I Chaired the American Mental Health Counselors Association Foundation and served on the Governing Council of the American Counseling Association. I chaired the MLCPCA Public Policy & Legislation Committe begining in 1988-2012. I am a Charter Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and International Board of Christian Counselors. In addition, I supervise and train the Pastoral and Lay Counselors with Faith Chapel in Billings including clinical residents and graduate interns. I have been passionate about providing faith based counseling since beginning to practice in 1975. Faith Chapel has taken this challenge on and is providing cutting edge help for those struggling.
My approach to counseling includes both faith based and include the general practice of clinical counseling. My faith based approach to clinical counseling involves the application of theology and biblical understanding with the principles of modern behavioral science. Many people have been confused or uninformed about the systematic role scripture, relationship's and the faith community can have in our spiritual and psychological growth.
To quote John Townsend and Henry Cloud (How People Grow 2001 page 9-10)
"We believe that getting to know God more deeply, growing emotionally, and having better relationships are all matters of spiritual growth. God has designed a path of growth that leads us to him and his ways. As we learn and experience that path, we enter his life. This changes our entire existence, encompassing emotions, behavior, relationships, career, and everything else in life "
I recently received Diplomat status through the American Mental Health Counselors Assoc. working with "Couples" and additionally, "Trauma".
